Obikà - mozzarella bar ® - Milano

Specialist mozzarella restaurant and bar, located in a contemporary building in Milan’s Brera district.
The proportions and character of this restaurant – a vast rectangular 4.5 metre high space on the ground and basement floors with 8 huge windows – is very different to Obika’s first restaurant, the Rome-Prefetti branch, and therefore required a different application of the design concept.
There are three main elements that characterise the design of this branch - a long glass vitrine which forms a showcase for the mozzarella and a ‘front’ for the restaurant composed of a mezzanine floor which projects into the empty space, and a backlit wall. These three elements work together to enliven the space, while a double-height wine wall leads visitors to the lower level where storage, cloakrooms and lavatories are located.
